Hi, I am Aly. I am a current student at Duke University, majoring in Business Analytics, Forensics concentration.

Four years ago, I was majoring in Accounting and I had little knowledge in data analytics. By chance I read the book Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think, and at that time I was on a project analyzing the determine factor of goodwill impairment. I realized the importance of data analytics and decided to learn more about how to incorporate data analysis into accounting.

I learnt Python, MatLab and R on Coursera and Datacamp, and learnt SQL during my study at Duke University. I was deeply amazed by the extent that data can reflect our preference, our daily behaviour and life patterns. I am extremely passionate about exploring and manipulating data, and convert them into business insights.

This blog tracks my data science learning progress. I will upload my notes, projects and some random thoughts about data science and financial fraud analytics.

Apart from my academic and professional experience, I love singing🎤as well as playing the guitar🎸and the piano🎹. I'm also a big fan of all kinds of games. I ranked 460 worldwide on World of Minesweeper in season March 2020.
